2022-11-29 - MaritimeClassicCars.com adding Classic Motorcycles to it's website.

We are looking at expanding into the classic motorcycles side of the classic collector enthusiast. The Atlantic Vintage Motorcycle Society is a great place to find information and news about the classic cycles scene. Here is a little information about their group.

This group site is an on-line window into the Atlantic Vintage Motorcycle Society; a real life 'rubber on the road' antique motorcycle club, registered with the Nova Scotia Societies Act. The club is a laid-back organization composed of people from all walks of life and is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of vintage, historic and classic motorcycles. Based in Nova Scotia, with members mainly from Metro Halifax and across the province. We restore, ride and display our motorcycles of any make or model at regular events throughout the year.

2022-08-08 - History of record players in cars

In the 1950s, anything seemed possible. The United States was recovering from a World War and feeling very confident in its future. It felt like America was rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the war, and new inventions were everywhere. Technology was heading in leaps and bounds toward the advancements that would take men into space, and home gadgets and gizmos were being created that were intended solely for convenience.

One of the places where the luxury of the 50s and 60s was felt the most was the car market. Cars were no longer boring and drab boxes on wheels that could get you from place to place. Cars were suddenly a sign of luxury and having a car with all the extras said something about a person. Enter all kinds of wacky comforts and upgrades, including the record player making its appearance in vehicles.

Record players in cars was a dream that would one day lead to the reality of portable music that we all know and take for granted.

2022-04-03 - Something new for our Classic Car website - Classic Bikes
Well over the years pretty well all the classic vehicles news circled around classic cars, trucks, even snow mobiles. But for some reason, we never really tapped into the BIKES side of things. So this year we are opening up our doors (not that they were ever shut) to the classic bikes side of things. If anyone knows of any classic bike events going on or bike weekly cruise events, let us know and we will add them to our cruising and show listings. We will of course be doing some of our own research on everything classic bikes related to help bring a new side to our offerings. We are looking forward to adding the new crew of classic enthusiast to our fold. Here's hoping 2022 will be a return to some normalcy which is Covid!!. 2019-10-08 - Maritime Rod & Custom Magazine

Maritime

Since the summer of 2011 I've been known as "the guy from HiDefRods Photography." Through chance meetings of people like Winnie and Woody Wood, Greg Turner, Joe Savoie, Bill Doherty, and Terry Denomme, I believe that I have become one of the "go-to" photographers for high quality prints and one-of-a-kind automobile photography art. While I love the opportunities I get from Radical SpeedSport, the Atlantic Nationals, and Canadian HotRod and Bone Stock magazines, as well as producing collages, and designing show boards, I feel there's more I can contribute to this motorized hobby and the passionate folks that are the driving force behind it, particularly in the Maritimes!!. Therefore, I've decided to produce a Maritime-Canada-focused Rod and Custom magazine. For more information click on the graphic above to go to our website.

Laurie Walker - Author
Hi folks, normally I keep my bulletin board post to classic car related items. However I have a cousin who has written her first novel and i am helping her get some exposure. Here is a bit about the book.

Since the dawn of creation, Rhuna has held a secret deep beneath the Temple of Osiris—a malevolent force capable of bestowing immortality and unimaginable power to whomever possessed it. The Gods, rather than destroy all of Mythos to stop it, imprisoned the ancient evil and the one who created it. They separated Rhuna from the rest of Mythos leaving the land—and its people—to fade into legend. Kian’Huard and Ko’Resh, heirs to the House of Rhuna, happen upon a mysterious cave while out on a morning ride. The lure of the cave is beyond natural, compelling the brothers to enter. Too late, they realize their mistake and are trapped. Their only hope is a perilous venture deeper into the mountain. Plagued with danger, the journey pits brother against brother, until the final trial—the awakening of the Sem Lukos Resh. But the struggle does not end there. Driven by the darkness that possesses them, their conflict continues until only one brother remains. Centuries pass. The barriers separating Rhuna from the world fall. Long since presumed dead, Ko’Resh returns to Rhuna. Once more brother battles brother. One fights to save his world, the other to conquer it.

2019-06-13 - A TIMELINE OF CAR HISTORY
Humans have been thinking about different ways to travel for thousands of years. As time has gone on, they have devised increasingly more effective and efficient methods of travel. The automobile made a dramatic change in the way people travel. There is no simple answer to the question of who invented the automobile and when. It has been a work in progress, developing over the past several hundred years. To better understand the history of the automobile, it could be helpful to look at a time line and see how all the pieces fit together. This time line describes the invention of the automobile and its development with a focus on American automobiles in the twentieth century. 2018-03-26 - Dodge Charger Tips and Information
One of our website followers sent us a link regarding the beloved Dodge Charger. The Dodge Charger was one of the most popular cars during the muscle car era, but after its fifth generation, the car vanished. Between 1987 and 2006, Charger fans were left with nothing but the occasional rumor of a new concept car or talk of a revival. In 2006, however, the new Dodge Charger was unveiled, and once again, the car has become very popular. For more information click here

2017-12-16 - Henman family produce fundraising CD for family

In 2016 four of the ten Henman siblings from Nova Scotia sat in their sister’s living room in beautiful Mabou, Cape Breton – doing what they always do when they get together, making music. That night the seed was planted to create a cd of original Henman songs, Edge of Heaven, 10 Kids 10 Songs. It seemed to be the right time. In 2013 the youngest sister, Patricia (Pat), and her daughter, were critically injured by a drunk driver. Then in the fall of 2016, their brother Harold had a possible life threatening incident while taking a morning walk. The good news is all ten are still here – age 56 to 70.

The Henman siblings got together at a Dartmouth studio last summer to record Edge of Heaven. Album proceeds are being donated to MADD Canada. From left, Harold Henman, Judy Henman, Jim Henman, Jean Beks, Bob Henman, Joan MacLeod, Jack Henman, Paul Henman and Pat Henman. (Missing is Steve Henman.) To purchase the CD, click on the picture above to go to their webpage.

2017-10-16 - Weddings and classic cars a good fit!

On the weekend I had the pleasure of attending my nephews wedding. They were the winners of a $10,000 wedding package giveaway. There were many companies who offered their services but the one we were most exposed to were "Temple on Queen" which is the Performance & Event Venue in Bridgetown. The photography company hired by James and Tracy was "Spice of Life Photography". The weather held up and I noticed that there were three photographers around every where you turned. I'm thinking, they appear to have all the angles covered. The day after the event I was on-line looking at some of the wedding pictures and the one above just jumped out and slapped me in the face and said... Tell me this classic car (and guys) are the bomb. It's a mid 70's corvette dawned in black all polished up and killer looking. I thought a little "pay it forward" was in order for these businesses who donated their time to make my nephew and brides wedding something extremely memorable. If you are in the Bridgetown and surrounding areas and looking for a venue for an event, give Temple on Queen a call. And if you are looking for photography services I would certainly recommend Spice of Life Photography

2017-07-29 - Cross-Canada vintage car tour rolls into Essex County
When Victor and Kristy Leger roll into St. John's, N.L. on August 30, they'll have crossed the continent not once, but twice in their Canadian-built 1951 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The couple from Allison, N.B. are part of an armada of roughly 100 vintage cars travelling from Victoria to St. John's this summer as part of the Canadian Coasters Car Club.

To get to the starting point, the Legers left home June 5, choosing to get to the west coast through the U.S. in order to avoid doing the same trip twice.

On Friday, the tour rolled into the field behind the Canadian Transportation Museum in Kingsville, where they will spend the night. While some stay in hotels, most opt to tow their accommodations with them.

2017-03-04 - MIchael Irvines - Born to Race

“These cars were (and are) all about performance, speed and styling. When I decided to create a painting featuring the Challenger and Cuda, I knew they could not be standing still. I wanted to capture the thrill of competition between the street versions of the famous race cars, while paying tribute to their true origins. What a rush it would have been...

2017-01-01 - Green Goblin Customs Chad Hiltz on a new venture
Chad Hiltz of Green Goblins Customs is at it again. This time he is creating a hand made custom Bugatti which is certainly a challenge to replicate for any custom car builder. Chad Hiltz has the creative ability to make something amazing out of what most would call garbage. The many signs displayed over the buildings are what initially catch the eye of most passer bys. They are pleasantly surprised when the come in to find many amazing rides. In the buildings you will find whatever custom or restoration Chad is working on at the time along with his completed beauties. Chad titles all of his creations with a name that has meaning to him. His cars have displayed in several magazines with many more to come in the near future.

Be sure to drop by their Rockabilly Weekend on Aug. 19-20th this year and check out his latest creations.

2016-09-02 - Obtaining a Certificate of Registration in NS
For those living in Nova Scotia there is an easy way to obtain a Certificate of registration (title) if the car still has the original vin. Only If it wasn't stolen and hasn't been registered for many years. First step is to take your copy of the VIN to access NS and have them title search it to see if it comes up with any results. If it doesn't then ask for a Verification of Vehicle Information form SPE45. Call police and have them fill it out (free for most part). Take form back to access NS and sign the affidavit then leave with title (cost me $28.10). Thanks to David Morgan who posted this on our Facebook page. I have actually had to do this with a trailer that had the VIN fall off. A little different procedure at Access NS but basically you still need to have a police officer involved in the process.

2016-05-04 - Greg O'Flaherty 1948-2016
With the passing of Greg O’Flaherty on March 24th 2016, the car world lost a real hard-working and dedicated car guy. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia and was a founding member of the Cape Breton Antique and Custom Car Club in 1979. A mechanic by trade, he was always ready with a helping hand when needed.

Over the years, Greg held every position in the club and at the time of his death was the events coordinator. He and his wife, Marie and son and daughter traveled to all shows firstly in their green 37 Chevy, then the 57 Chevy wagon and lastly their 48 Ford ½ ton truck. At shows in PEI, NB, NS and beyond would find Greg volunteering in any way that he could be of help. The members of CBACCC are certainly going to miss Greg and we are going to have big shoes to fill in his absence. Condolences for Greg’s family can be sent to the club web site cbantiqueandcustomcar@gmail.com

2016-05-02 - MaritimeClassicCars.com would like to thank Gary Steeves Insurance
Each year one of the important task we have is provide a comprehensive list of the classic car shows and events that are going on in the Maritimes and Maine over the summer months and into the fall. Initially we took the time to browse the different car club listings in hopes that they had a list we could use for populating our listings. Over the years as we have grown including our Facebook page, many of the event organizers are now contacting us with their event information. However with hundreds of shows that are going on, it is still quite a task to gather them all up to post. Over recent years, Gary Steeves Insurance has done a great job immersing themselves in the classic car world and as part of that, have been doing a lot of the legwork on confirming these shows and have been generous enough to provide us with a copy of this list. We would like to give a big THANK YOU to Trent and the gang for helping us keep you informed!!

2016-03-20 - New web page added to the site

Over the past couple of years, there have been many groups / clubs which are creating their own Facebook pages. We have decided to create a list of these to make it easier for your to locate these Facebook pages. If you know of a classic car related Facebook that does not exist here, email us info@maritimeclassiccars.com with the group name and the Facebook URL and we will post them here. Click here to see the new web page.

2016-03-14 - Facebook page tops 3000 members
Well, usually during the winter months our website kind of goes into hibernation with all the car show completed for the year. However we know that during this time is when a lot of the restoration and new build projects get underway and our Parts page gets a little bit busier and we still get some classified ads posted as well.

One thing that has absolutely starting to go viral is the membership to our Facebook page. Just last week we had our 3000th member join up. It was only last August when we topped the 2000 mark. We are glad that we were able to create the forum to allow members to talk/post information for parts, events and any old classic car discussions. It is fun to browse through on a daily basis to see some posts of people taking cruises in ... January. Yes we had one day of 15 degrees with sun that just taunted those who store their baby in their own garages.

On another note, this year we added a Donate button on the website to help out with the overhead cost of running the website. We have been up and running for eight years and this is the first time that we have placed one on the website. All funds go towards to promoting the website and adding more functionality to the site as well. Congratulations go to Ted Barfett as being our first donor to the website. The first big show of the season coming up soon is the Castrol Radical Speed Sport Car Show in Moncton from April 15-17th. Time to get the juices flowing. Talk too you soon and thanks for any future donations.

2015-11-16 - Who have you bumped into at Costco lately - Ron MacLean!!
Out for a routine shopping run to Costco to pick up a few items. Run into a couple of friends who have five copies of Ron MacLean's new book. In chatting with them, told them that is was one of the items on my Christmas list. They say ... why don't you go over and get him to sign one for you. I look at them ... he's here is said? Yup sure enough he was there. So off to the lineup which was wrapped around a couple of aisles. Looking at the line I tell my wife, never mind. She says get in line, I will go shopping. That could have been dangerous. It took an hour an and a half but I am sure glad I did.

Finally my turn to step up and meet the man. Previous person was a cutie with a Montreal Canadians cap on. As she is leaving he says, "Go Canadians". As I walk up I say ... great, I am a Bruins fan. He replies "I'm sorry". At first I thought he was apologizing to me. Then as I thought about the reply and knowing Ron's wit, he was probably saying sorry that I was a Bruins fan.

As he appears on TV Ron is always a gentleman with a big smile to everyone he meets. We all love him as Coaches Corner hockey guru and his hockey knowledge not just at the NHL level but the minor leagues as well as junior and international players is impecable. Don Cherry is the "Coach", Gordie Howe is Mr. Hockey on the ice but in my opinion Ron MacLean is "Mr. Hockey" of the broadcast medium which we have all come to cherish and enjoy over the many years and years to come. Ron, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you in person.

2015-10-21 - BOOM An explosive one-man stage documentary.
BOOM

BOOM... WOW. It was a relatively calm Hollows' Eve when we had the treat of taking in Rick Miller's theatrical production of BOOM. As we filed into the theatre we were greeted with the sounds of Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah in the background. Eventually the lights dimmed and Rick appeared on stage with a warm welcome and a brief description of what was to come.

BOOM is a solo performance by Rick that documents the music, culture and politics from the atomic 'boom' in 1945 through to the 'boom' of Apollo II landing on the moon in 1969. Rick portrays the voices of over 100 influential musicians, activists and politicians that shaped our world over those 25 iconic and revolutionary years. Recollecting stories or where I was at specific times, I found myself nodding my head thinking, "Yeah, I remember that". Click here to read the full review.

2014-12-09 - Consumer Alert: Insurance for classic car owners

A man was shocked when an insurance company refused to fix his 1969 Chevelle following a serious incident saying that the restoration cost exceeded the appraised value and wanted to write off the vehicle. The insurance company (following normal protocol for processing claims) used his last valid appraised value for the car. Since that date, the owner had invested approximately $15,000 into the car but did not get a new appraisal to reflect the actual value of the car after the modifications. Moral of the story is to ensure your vehicle has an up to date appraisal to ensure your receive the real value of the car. For some appraisal services, check our website advertisers. Click on the picture to view the news article. He did eventually get the coverage. He was insured by Hagarty which handles Gary Steeves business now.

2014-07-17 - Bringing a car from the USA - Some discussion from our Facebook page

John Sawyer - I hope he has EIN numbers for those cars... The border will seize them and fine him.

Michael Sickboy Boutilier - John Sawyer chances are they do, most serious car collectors know this already. so lets hope this person does & that all the cars do have the EIN numbers too. And he could end up with more then just a fine he could actually end up doing jail time too, it's happened before to many a people out there!!!

John Sawyer - I've spoken to many people whom are completely unaware of the change back in May.

Pass it on. Without an EIN number (basically a TAX ID) from the seller the vehicle will be seized and first offense is $10,000.00 fine plus denied entry back into USA.

Michael Sickboy Boutilier - Damn that's a pretty steep fine to be getting alone with denied entry back into the USA as well ta boot. Dang!!! Thx for the detailed info John Sawyer truly appreciated a whole lot kool kat.

Trent Steeves - He's owned the cars for awhile but still goes through a broker where he's crossing the border all the time, he's just bringing them home after having some work done on them.

2014-07-15 - Moncton Nationals put on another fantastic show!!
We at MaritimeClassicCars.com decided to get up early (5:00 am) on Saturday morning and venture up to the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton. The forecast was for two days of sun and highs of in the 28 degrees range. With word of some paving going on through the Cobequid pass we decided to cruise the old route through Wentworth Valley. What a beautiful view, window down, cruising at 80 kph... yeah almost felt like I was standing still. The clean fresh air free of any other vehicle smell or noise... priceless. I checked my mileage after I got up to Moncton (including the Saturday night cruise or should I say crawl) and we actually pulled in 20 mpg with the 350 engine. I can tell you I didn't get that on the way back for sure.

Once again Bill and the gang put on an awesome weekend and did a great job getting the awards ceremonies moved along in great timing. This was our fourth year up and the first year we actually didn't win anything. But sitting in the shade on Sunday, browsing through some Canadian Hot Rod magazines and a cool drink in hand was definitely what this soul needed. Also got to meet a couple of people on my just had to meet list. Michael and Linda Irvine (incredible classic car artist) and Chad Hiltz and the lovely MJ from the Green Goblin shop. He had the Green Goblin vehicle there which was recently articled in a magazine.

Also got to spend some time with my Uncle and cousins who live in Dieppe. All and all one fantastic weekend in the memory bank. Hope you all had a great time if you were there.

Well we still get classic cars/vehicles registering on our website through out the year. Every so often we see a very unique vehicle register. Well the latest one will make you do a double take. How many of you own a classic... tank. Yes I said tank. Our newest registrant Stephen Philpitt from East Chezzetcook is exactly that person. Here are some of the details of the tank.

A British Classic anti tank missile launcher from the cvrt family of vehicles built in Coventry. Fully tracked and powered by an Jaquar 4.2 l car engine the 8 ton vehicle can reach speeds well in excess of 50 mph. These vehicles are built with a light aluminium hull and small size to allow for air mobile operations . Fitted with turn signals, mirrors and excellent handling this striker is currently road registered in the UK.

2013-09-10 - Motor Vehicle Act Updates - Upcoming Election

As you are well aware, the car hobbyist community in Nova Scotia has been advocating for some changes to the Motor Vehicle Act to better handle the issues of antique, modified and owner-built vehicles. The wish of most of the people that I have talked to is to have a more consistent and realistic set of registration guidelines so that owners know what to expect when contemplating building such vehicles or registering one of them.

In recent contact with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, I have been advised that despite the submissions made by various people, there has been no progress in moving these changes forward. Essentially, nothing has changed in the last year.

With the provincial election call over the weekend, I think it is time that we talked to the candidates and made them aware of the concerns we have. So, if you think there is a concern, please mention it to the candidates when they come looking for your vote.

Once the new government is elected, we'll ratchet up our contact with various levels to bring these changes to a successful conclusion.

Conrad LeLièvre
Nova Scotia Director NAACC

2013-02-09 - NAACC takes a strong stand on the use of E15 Ethanol fuel
The NAACC does not support the use of Ethanol blended fuels. All blends of Ethanol are reported to cause serious damage to a variety of components in collector vehicles. The use of E10 causes deterioration in fuel lines, carburetors and fuel tanks. Vehicles that are stored with Ethanol blended fuel often sustain serious damage. The NAACC recommends that vehicles stored for any period of time be fueled with Shell 91 or Chevron 94 non alcohol blended fuel. Click here for more details.

2013-01-21 - Oldest car and driver

This man owned & drove the same car for 82 YEARS. Can you imagine even having the same car for 82 years? Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield, MA) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928. He drove it up until his death last year ... at the age of 102!!! He was the oldest living owner of a car that was purchased new.

It was donated to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years). That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month)...

1,070,000 that's miles not kilometres!! That's British engineering of a bygone era. I don't think they make them like this any more.

2012-12-27 - Check out these old gas station pics

2012-06-21 - MaritimeClassicCars.com profiled in the Chronicle Herald
MaritimeClassicCars.com website is an example of the "little engine that could". From it's start in 2006, we have grown in leaps and bound on the basis of some dedicated advertising in the form of attending many classic car events and cruising events. Our Facebook page memberships have jumped from 50 last year to a current count of 233 members. A couple of weeks ago we submitted our story to the Chronicle Herald for review for their "Herald Wheels" section. Low and behold, on June 8th, we were lucky enough to get a profile story done on our website. Click here to view the story. We would like to thank all those who visit our website and hope we can continue to provide up to date listings for car shows, classic car club listing, classified, parts and a whole lot more. You have helped make us the little success story that we are.

Thanks Kyle, we are always looking for additional resources to add to our website. Last year we hit ONE MILLION web pages and it is help from our readers which make our website interesting to visit. Thanks again.

2012-05-28 - MaritimeClassicCars.com owner meets dream car at Canadian Tire Show & Shine
The skies were trying to clear up Saturday morning at the Canadian Tire Show & Shine in Bedford and we decided to dust up the MaritimeClassicCars.com 78 Nova and take here down for a few hours. She is our pride and joy but we all have that special dream car in the back of our minds (or some you you have actually found your) that some day you would like to find and if lucky enough be able to afford to take her home.

We pulled in and parked ourselves in the parking lot, got out and proceeded to dust of the spring dust and pollen off the car when beside me pulls in a 1969 Camaro RS/SS candy apple red in immaculate condition. My heart skips a beat. My dream car has just pulled up beside me and I get to oogle over it for the entire day. The owners Bob and Eama Denton from Brookfield give me an up close look at her and Eama even offered up the most delicious chocolate fudge that I have ever tasted. As in "The Night before Christmas" story, I had visions of 69 Camaro's dancing in my head that night. The rain held off an approximately 80+ vehicles showed up to make the show a success.

Lucky enough our new sponsors HiDefRods Rodger Evans was nearby and was able to capture the picture for us. If you are looking for an awesome showboard or collage pictures for your classic, be sure to give Roger a call or visit his website at www.hidefrods.com

If you are interested in a particular part, send an email or call the owner for the details. One thing that we ask is if you do sell a part that you have listed, please drop us a line to let us know that it has been sold. Thanks

2012-03-22 - Cruise season officially open in Halifax Regional Municipality
The classic car cruisin' season officially opened today (at least in the Halifax Regional Municipality), March 22nd with about 25 classic vehicles making their way to the A&W in Dartmouth. Temperatures reached 27 degrees (IN THE SHADE) in some places. I clear blue sky awaited the drivers as they began arriving around 5:00 pm. As expected, all were absolute amazed at the temperatures at this time of year and we just jumped at the opportunity to get the fluids moving in those engines. Unfortunately many of the classic car owners still have their classic vehicles in storage and many have arrangements where they can only take them out of storage on one or possibly two days at the discretion of the storage management company or person.

But for those who either store their vehicles in their own garage or were able to persuade (that would be me!!) their storage manager to get at the vehicle earlier, the evening kicked off another classic cruising season in style with hopes of many more evenings like we had this evening. And by the way, if you see Lonnie and his gorgeous yellow challenger, don't mention NASCAR!! I accidentally did and well... lets just say, I shouldn't have. Hope to see you all out soon.

2012-03-13 - Looking for a Delorean
My name is Jeremy Varner and I am a theatre manager from Empire Theatres Regent Mall in Fredericton, NB. I am also the driving force behind a successful program known as Fan Favorites. In essence a classic film is put back on the big screen once a month for the community to enjoy. Since the program began in April 2011 we have hosted over 2500 guests. On April 7th, 2012 we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary and will be showing Back to the Future. As part of the experience I would love to have an iconic car on site. The vehicle would be featured in our lobby with ropes and poles around it. Therefore guests can take pictures but not physically touch the car. Ideally I would be looking for a Delorean however I would also enjoy a Bricklin. As a thank you the owner would be given two free seats to the event with pop and popcorn delivered to their seats.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Varner

2012-01-25 - Comments made in the year 1955!
- I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $10.00.
- Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $1, 000.00 will only buy a used one.
- If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. 20 cents a pack is ridiculous.
- Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter.
- If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.
- When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.
- I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.
- I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. - They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it in Texas .
- Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $50,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.
- I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.
- It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.
- It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.
- I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.
- Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to government.
- The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.
- There is no sense going on short trips anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $2.00 a night to stay in a hotel.
- No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $15.00 a day in the hospital, it's too rich for my blood.'
- If they think I'll pay 30 cents for a haircut, forget it.'

2012-01-24 - Sons find dads old chevy.

2011-07-25 - New Custom Classic Chevy 789 design

The New 789 Chevy! Thought you might enjoy this unusual Chevy. It's a '57, '58 & '59 Chevy all rolled into one! This car is built by N2A motors (No Two Alike). The company is planning a production run of about 100 vehicles.

It sits on a Corvette C6 chassis, front styled like a '57 Chevy, side like a '58, rear like a '59. And two tone paint. Hence the designation "789." Click here for a look!

2011-06-23 - Looking for information on the classic "Poison Kandy"
I am looking for some information on a car that started it’s transformation in 1956, It is a radical Kustom built by a gentleman named Tinker Hinton. It is a 1955 Ford Fairlane and sports 55 Buick rear tail lights. The car was originally purchased in Toronto and ended up in Halifax sometime in 1955/1956. The car was in the Magazine Speed Style & Custom in Feb 1961 volume 7. Since then the car was brought back to Ontario and I am now the proud caretaker of this prestigious kustom car. The car was also on the American show circuit in the early 1990’s and has won many many awards over time. A friend of mine said that he saw archived pictures and stories from back in the day at the World Trade Convention center in Halifax. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The car is now named Poison Kandy. Poison for all of the lead that Tinker used and Kandy for the paint. If you have any information, could you please contact me at andy@queenscovemarina.com. It would be very much appreciated.

2011-04-26 - Definition of Antiques Discussion Paper
Here is another discussion paper relating to the Motor Vehicle Act here in Nova Scotia. This one relates to the definition of "Antique vehicle" as used here in Nova Scotia. Click here to view the contents.

They are looking for feedback by May 13, 2011. If any of our MaritimeClassicCars.com readers have any feedback on items of concern, please email them to MVAConsultations@gov.ns.ca or phone at (902) 424-4380. You can also mail you comments/concerns to

MVA Consultations – Antique Vehicles
1505 Barrington Street, PO Box 216,
Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 3N5

This one could have significant impact on some vehicles, particularly "street rods" built from fiberglass bodies on custom frames. These are not "original" vehicles and as such may not meet the definition of "antique". There are lots of them in Nova Scotia with "antique Auto" plates at this time.

2011-03-29 - Worlds Rarest Car
Worlds rarest car This is the car that in 1954 could have "killed" the Corvette...so, Chevrolet, being GMs big sales and profit Division, campaigned to GM to "kill" this car. When Chevy was coming out with its 6-cyl. Sports car with its 2-speed "Powerglide" transmission and side curtains here was a sports car from Olds with a big old V-8 and power windows. So, GM said no to Oldsmobile on building this car. Click here for more details.

This guy started from scratch and is now just a little behind Oprah. This is what you call a REAL Chevy guy . Click here to view the collection.

2011-03-28 - Rick Treworgy Collection
Here is another magnificentclassic car collection which belongs to Rick Treworgy. This was when he had the vehicles stored in a large warehouse. He later bought a old Wal-Mart building and turned it into Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda, Florida. I got the chance to see his collection at Muscle Car City in March of 2010. It is an incredible collection of the Muscle car era of basically Chevy and Pontiac vehicles. It is people like this that keep the hobby alive and well. All the vehicles are taken out and driven every few months. Whoever said "You can't get enough of a good thing" must have been talking About the car collection of Rick Treworgy. 2011-02-28 - Quinpool Cruise Show & Shine no more!!

I am sad to say that the Quinpool Cruise 2010 Show & Shine was our last one, however we will continue with the actual Quinpool Cruise on Saturday Night. It will be now called Crusin’ Quinpool .

The first Quinpool Cruise was held in June of 2001 in front of my store, with about eighteen cars, some good ole‘ rock and roll music, and some BBQ food. It continued to grow over the years , at times we had as many as 140 cars at the Show and Shine, and sometimes we had upwards of 400 cars at the evening cruise. One year we were able to help a charity. We have even had the Mayor join us from time to time. Last year was our biggest show and we wanted to go out on a good note.

This year’s cruise will be held on Saturday, July 16 2011, 7:00 PM, meeting again at Pepperall Street , around Bens Bakery parking lot. We hope to leave around 7:30 and cruise to Point Pleasant Past, stay there until about 8.30 and then head to Water Street , from there to the Rotary and then back to Tim Hortons, Quinpool for an informal Show/ shine.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have helped make this event successful over the years, especially : my good friends; Jon Clark, Gary Porter, Bob Newcomb and Ralph Snook.I would also like to thank the many sponsors that have helped us out financially over the years as well.

Thanks
Mike Chambers

Just a few years ago (2006) we started MaritimeClassicCars.com in hopes of providing a central place that people could come to find classic car related information such as events, car clubs, classifieds, links and more. We had our ONE MILLIONTH web page viewed. Thanks to all who visit our website and hopefully we are providing the classic car information the you are looking for.

Things we are working on to improve our website include, FREE advertising for your classifieds, the ability to upload your pictures, A new Parts page where you can either post your parts for sale or if you are looking for parts. We are adding some security measures for the submission of classifieds. We are also hoping to create an event registration function that will assist event planners with the registrations for their events. 2010-08-16 - Where has the MaritimeClassicCars.com Nova been !!
Some of you may be thinking you have not seen the MaritimeClassicCars.com 78 Nova out and about that much this year. Well unfortunately you are right. In the spring we started a venture to have the engine tricked up with some powder coating of the intake and exhaust manifolds and other brackets. Also the addition of a new 4 barrel carburator, new lifters, camshaft, timing chain, valve seals, chrome valve covers and breather and a new set of bold red wires and distributor cap. When it was all said and done the engine looked amazing in Black/Red and Chrome. But here is where the trouble started. I guess by redoing the top end of the engine, after a few runs with it, we ended up blowing the rings out of her and she burns more oil than gas.

So we are now in negotiations with GM Canada looking for a possible sponsorship for a new 350 cu. in motor. We are keeping our fingers crossed. However, we have been out to a few shows without the car. We attended the PEI Hot Rod Assoc. show in Montegue, PEI, Graves Island (Chester). Coastal Cruisers (Bridgewater) and are planning to be at the A & W Cruisin the DUB, this Thursday. If you want to see a lot of classics cars (last year was about 1800), drop down the A & W in Dartmouth (Woodside Ferry Terminal), you are surely in for a treat.

2010-07-06 - We now have a FaceBook page. We want your feedback

Also, we want you feedback about our website. Tell us what you like, suggestions for improvements or just general comments are welcomed. We want to here from you!!

2010-06-24 - MaritimeClassicCars.com Nova escorts young couple to the Prom.
Dean & Rebecca\'s Prom RideWith only a couple of days remaining to their highschool graduation Dance, Dean and Rebecca had their planned ride fall through at the last moment. Included in their search was a visit to MaritimeClassicCars.com. They contacted us to see if we could assist them in finding a drive to their Prom in a classic car. On a good day with plenty of notice it is still very hard to find a classic car and their driver who would be willing and available to help you out unless you personally know someone who owns one. After giving it serious thought about the situation they were in, we decided to help make their trip to the prom a memorable one and they generously offered gratitude for helping them out in the squeeze. Although we had a few showers, we joined them at the Dartmouth Commons for pictures and then swept them away for a classic cruise over to Halifax, around the beautiful Public Gardens and then off to the Prom. The young couple look marvelous as seen in the picture and we have been informed had a wonderful time at their Prom. Do you all remember your Prom Night? It brought back some very special memories.

2010-06-22 - MaritimeClassicCars.com welcome Trick Engines as new sponsor

It may be a little 305 cu. in. but she sure looks pretty now. If you need new parts to trick up your engine give the guys a call (468-8622) at Trick Engines and they can take care of your muscle or classic car needs.

The MaritimeClassicCars.com 1978 Nova was there with bells (bottom's !!??) on to help them out with their theme. 2010-05-01 - MaritimeClassicCars.com visit Muscle Car City
Me with owner Rick Treworgy Well a few months ago I received and e-mail telling me about a gentleman that had a collection of over 225 classic cars of which most of them being muscle cars. He had them stored in a warehouse, stacked on top of each other, squeezed together with the limited space he had. A few months later I found out that he purchased an old Wal-Mart store and created Muscle Car City. This museum now houses over 200 of his classics cars and includes a 50's style restaurant as well as a gift shop contains a large selection of classic and muscle car memorabilia.

We had a trip planned to Florida and after talking with owner Rick Treworgy, found out that his Muscle Car City was only a couple of hours south of Orlando where we were staying. Well you can bet I inserted a day trip on our calendar and paid a visit to his museum. What an awesome collection is all I can say. I also had the pleasure and privilege to chat with owner Rick for about 20 minutes about the collection and how he finds his collectables. Check back soon for a web page of the pictures we took while we were there. In the picture is a 1969 Camaro RS/SS with a 396 cu. in. which is my dream muscle car. Check out his website at http://www.musclecarcity.net

2009-07-14 - MaritimeClassicCars.com Nova wins again at Moncton Nationals

MaritimeClassicCars.com 78 Nova made it's second visit to the Moncton Nationals and for the second time in a row, came home with one of the major prizes. Custom designed kid's bedAlong with almost 1,800 other classic cars, and gorgeous weather for Friday & Saturday, we almost ended up coming home with a the new Chevy GM crate engine again!! With two prizes left to draw for, the numbers were drawn for the engine and a custom made classic car bed. I had heard two numbers drawn and neither one was mine so I thought it was over. With the rules being that you had to be in attendence to win, one of the prizes needed to have another number drawn. That next number was mine. As I was walking up to the stage, I wasn't sure which number had been drawn for again... my thought was "oh my god, did I win the engine again!!". But it was not to be, I had actually won the classic car bed. It is of a 1969 Cutlass and is valued at $1200. I do not have any young boys that I could give it to, so I am taking offers on the bed. Let me know if you are interested.
